My screen porch has a beach theme. Imagine my delight when I found a wooden dresser at the thrift store with nautical details. It was scratched and beat up – perfect for painting. I used Sherwin Williams Inkwell and mixed in some plaster of paris to get a chalk paint finish. The anchor and other details were screaming to me to be left natural so I didn’t touch them. Afterwards, I lightly distressed the dresser (with the help of a windy day and my precarious balancing of it — it fell over onto my concrete porch!). My plan was to wax it but I think I like it just the way it is.
