Organizing Mojo’s Closet

I have finished all the closets in this house. My daughter’s was done last month. Here’s her before:

My kids have these weirdly shaped closets. They are deep to the sides. I’ve tried a bunch of different ways of storing clothes in them. For Mojo, it works best to have rods going from front to back on each side with the middle open. Here’s the after:

The kids’ rooms are still neat and organized a month later. I’ve implemented a new daily chore system in the house and we’ve been at it for over three weeks now. It’s made a world of difference in how their rooms look on a daily basis and now, with them in good shape each day, it takes each kid maybe 5 minutes to pick up their room. Yay!

I’m firmly into my plan of spending the month of February decorating and spiffing up some areas in this house that sorely need it. I’ve repainted all the trim in the basement and am now working on the living room trim and built ins. The problem with painting is figuring out where to stop. Now, I’m contemplating changing the wall color, too. See? This gets out of hand quickly. I’m also starting to slipcover some of the chairs in my family room so they all go together better. It feels nice to have some time in my life to do these type of projects. This is really the first time in many years where I’ve had hours to myself to fill. And fill them I will.
