Organizing — Task 6 — Dresser Drawers

7 Jan 2011 by admin, 6 Comments »

Today was the day to clean out the dresser drawers. My dresser was not in need of any work. I went through it early last month and have maintained the order achieved. So, I decided to tackle some drawers badly in need of help — my sons’.

Duncan’s dresser before:

He has been unable to close he drawers for some time. I purged a lot of shorts, and hung all his dress pants in the closet. I feel like a mean mom for moving his tee shirts to a secret hiding place. This is my attempt to get him to dress warmly for the weather. We’ll see if it works.

At least for now he can store his clothes and easily close his drawers. Here’s the after:

Next, I tacked Oli’s drawers. It dismays me to see their neatly folded laundry get crammed into a heap in their drawers. Here’s his before:

My skinny-scrawny kid finally had a growth spurt so it was good to go weed through his outgrown stuff. He also had a ton of clothes that were worn to the point of no longer being presentable. This is the after:

The boys also share a third dresser in their room which also got completely emptied and organized this morning. I didn’t take photos of it because it’s mainly socks, underwear, swimwear, and bulky sweaters. This job took me almost 2 hours and yielded 2 bags of clothes to donate. I’m taking a break for a cup of tea and then I’m off to tackle my daughter’s room. Wish me luck!

So proud of you. But wondering if you got a blood transfusion or something. Whatever. It’s working and it’s wonderful. Keep on going. Can’t wait til you get to the bathroom closet. Baskets on wheels or runners, I think.
