Where to start?

It’s been too long since I sat down to write a bit here.  My excuse is that I’ve been too busy actually doing stuff — crafting, cooking, decorating — to write about what I’ve been doing.  But, I don’t want to forget how my time has been spent.  More and more, I use this blog as a way to remember these days of my life — days of raising kids and doing projects and reflecting on the silly moments of our life.  This kind of stuff is easy to forget if it’s not written down somewhere and this blog is my place to do that.  So….where do I start?  I guess I’ll start with my latest crafts.  I made this hat for Oli in a quick 2 hour knit session.  It was knit right in front of that fire.

The pattern for the hat comes from More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson.  It’s a fun book to look through and being able to make a hat so quickly makes anyone feel like a knitting superstar.

That fireplace is part of my holiday joy right now.  We recently added it to our family room — a room that until last month had no working heat source.  The furnace that served it died a few years back and we had been limping through the winters with a space heater.  Now my favorite room is cozy and warm and my knitting is definitely benefitting from having a fire to curl up in front of with my needles.

And curling up I am.  Another hat is almost finished and ready to be gifted.
