Birthday Girl

Another person near and dear to me had a “decade” birthday — my Mojo.

She turned the big 1-0!  Her day was spent at school but Nancy and I joined her in the cafeteria for lunch.  In all the years my kids have been at their grade school, I never sat with them at lunch time.  Now I know why the kids beg me to pack their lunch every day.  I have never seen such gross and unappetizing pasta.

Birthday evening was spent at a family favorite restaurant on “The Hill” — the Italian section in our town.  The pasta there was a stark contrast to the lunch we saw earlier in the day.  It was eaten with gusto.  For her gift, we made her a mosaic kit — a plastic bin filled with broken tile, shiny bits, tile snippers, adhesive & grout.  She will use her gift to make gifts for others in her very Mojo way.

Happy birthday to my new “tween.”  The past decade has flown by much too fast.  Can we slow things down for the next one a bit?
