Scenes from Chicago — Dancing in the Park

While strolling through town, we came upon Chicago Summer Dance — outdoor ballroom dancing in the park!  Oh, the fun John and I had trying to dance along with some seriously awesome pairs.

Our dancing skills are pretty primitive.  Before our wedding, we took a series of ballroom dance lessons.  For six weeks, we’d meet after work and try to learn the basics of waltzing, cha-cha-ing, and tangoing.  Mostly, we tripped over each others’ feet and stumbled around the room laughing and having fun.  What we miss in skill, we make up for in enthusiasm.

While it’s been many years since our dance lessons, our tripping and stumbling skills came right back.  And then my partner was whisked away by another.

This girl actually has some rhythm and skill.  We have no doubt she’ll easily surpass her parents in the dancing department.  And maybe in the laughing and having fun department, too.
